Alex started his career in the construction industry in 2002 with an apprenticeship at Interserve Engineering Services, completing the ONC, HNC and HND in Building Services Engineering. He was fortunate to have been under the guidance of some excellent engineers who were able to help direct his path through the construction industry.
After training, Alex had spells with JCW, Laing O’Rourke and CMB Engineering, which allowed him to be part of the three main arms of the industry, picking up valuable experience of the way the industry works, and how best to deliver projects.
The next chapter of Alex's career is now with Taranis Engineering. Based in the Bristol office, he aims to push forward Taranis Engineering's development and continue to deliver the quality service that its clients have come to expect.
Managing Director
Jon entered the industry in 2000 and was awarded an HND in Building Services Engineering from City of Bath College. His enthusiasm rapidly impressed his colleagues and he rose to Senior Project Engineer in 2005. By 2012 he was a Regional Manager for the Four Seasons Group.
He now works out of the Taranis Engineering's office in Cardiff where he is heavily involved in the design and installation of mechanical systems. He is engaged in offering complete lifecycle solutions by means of preventative maintenance proposals.
Jon combines the characteristics of a knowledgeable engineer with exceptional people skills. He gets on with others easily and is comfortable working in a team, a skill derived from his many years playing rugby.
Sales and Health and Safety Director
John has twenty years of experience within the Building Services Environment. Originally from Belfast where he worked in a small family run Building Services business, he moved in 2005 to South Wales to work for Daikin UK in the manufacturing and sales side of the building services industry.
In 2010 he became Area Sales Manager for Daikin UK. Daikin is a global air conditioning manufacturer, specialising in innovative and renewable technology, he led a team of ten sales engineers and had achieved a growth of 160% during his tenure. In July 2014. John joined MacWhirter Ltd with a view to moving into the contracting side of the industry. He subsequently joined Taranis Engineering in July 2015.
John has extensive knowledge and experience in our industry, from both the manufacturing base and coupled with the contracting element, an invaluable aid when working within our industry and that of Taranis Engineering, offering this expertise to our clients.
Sales & Marketing Director
Jamie started his career in construction in 2009, and while working on-site achieved qualifications in heating and ventilation working on a range of installations varying from hospitals, schools, and office refurbishments. Following the completion of his apprenticeship, he moved to Taranis Engineering where he has successfully completed HNC in building services, allowing him to jump headfirst into the management and supervision of the mechanical works he had already gained insightful knowledge of through his years as an apprentice. Jamie can now pull knowledge from his hands-on site experience and his technical knowledge developed from the time spent working as a project engineer at Taranis Engineering to deliver projects from tender through to completion, ensuring our client's expectations are met at all times.
Senior Project Manager
Josh joined the company in 2016 as an Apprentice Project Manager while simultaneously completing his HNC in Building Services Engineering. While with Taranis Engineering, he was able to successfully graduate from his HNC with the support of his colleagues, whilst also garnering valuable experience within his role as a Project Manager, completing large scale air conditioning and ventilation projects at the same time. Now Josh is developing his own knowledge of the Building Services Industry in order to not only further his own development but also to act as a guide to the newer apprentices joining Taranis Engineering to help them better understand what is required within the evolving industry.
Project Manager
Matthew brings to Taranis Engineering 35 years of extensive experience from a broad spectrum of M&E disciplines including Power Generation, Utilities, Health, Process and over the last 15 years in the HVAC & MEP sector as a Project Manager. Matthew's experience in managing large high-value projects is invaluable to Taranis Engineering and he looks forward to further developing his already honed skills via the numerous projects he is hoping to help oversee in the near future.
Project Manager
Michael started his career in the Building Services industry with SPIE Matthew Hall in 2007, where he completed his ONC, HNC and HND with merits and distinctions.
Following his training, Michael spent time with Facilitas TES, ilec-imec Building Services and Space Engineering Services, where he progressed from Mechanical Design Engineer to Design Manager within the space of 5 years.
Michael worked with a number of very talented and knowledgeable engineers who helped shape his career and his understanding of mechanical and electrical services, and the ability to spot innovative ways to provide value engineering.
Now a member of Taranis Engineering based in the Bristol office, Michael assists with the tendering process as well as leading the design team to progress designs from concept through construction finalising in Record Drawings and O&M manuals.
Design Manager
Doug joined Taranis Engineering back in 2019 as his first jump into the Building Services Industry and has developed his knowledge over time to become an asset as an Estimator with a focus on finding the keen specifics of any contract. Currently, under the wing of the three directors, Doug has just completed his NVQ Level 3 in Building Services Engineering, coming away with full distinctions - he hopes this can continue throughout his apprenticeship in order to be a great asset to Taranis Engineering for many years to come. The role of Estimator requires sufficient knowledge of a variety of mechanical systems in order to ensure that prices are not only accurate but attractive for a range of job sizes, from simple splits to large scale VRF and Ventilation systems.
Apprentice Estimator
Joe first foraged into the Building Services Industry when he started with Taranis Engineering in 2020 as an Apprentice Refrigeration Installer - from there, he has shifted towards an office role, where he can now assist the engineers by incorporating the skills he learned on site to assist in the running and development of a smoother project. Joe recently completed his Level 3 NVQ in Building Services Engineering, and now looks forward to being able to gain his HNC in order to better assist his colleagues and further his understanding of the installed systems onsite. While Joe's experience across the board is still developing, the knowledge he does have helps him to identify and manage projects of varying sizes.
Apprentice Project Manager
Josh joined Taranis Engineering `in 2021 after previously working in construction retail. His enthusiasm to learn has led him onto our apprenticeship programme where Josh looks to gain the skills, knowledge and qualifications to become a Project Engineer, where he is currently being supported alongside our other apprentices in their pursuit of their Higher National Certificates. We wish Josh all the best in his future with Taranis Engineering and will ensure he receives the support he needs – even if his co-workers have given him the moniker of “Goose”!
Apprentice Project Manager
Cindy has worked as the Office Manager for Taranis Engineering since 2020 and in that time she has helped to streamline the flow of information between all aspects of the company, from all levels of administration, including but not limited to the management of all orders, clerical works and general running of the day to day in the office. Cindy has brought with her a significant amount of experience from working with previous firms in order to maximise the efficiency of day to day tasks within Taranis Engineering, a factor which has been nothing but an overall positive to the business as a whole. Cindy is now helping to not only train the newer clerical staff within the company but also help the engineers ensure all of their projects run as efficiently as possible.
Office Manager
Teagan joined Taranis Engineering in the autumn of 2021 but previously worked on her level 2 apprenticeship in the retail sector. As that came to an end, she started her career in admin, which she is developing with a business apprenticeship at the City of Bristol College, in hopes of attaining a level 3 Business Administrator Certificate. With her previous retail experience, she has embraced the role of Apprentice Contract Administrator under Cindy, who is helping her to become an even more integral part of the Taranis Engineering team.
Apprentice Contract Administrator
Clive’s 25 years of experience within the HVAC and M&E industry has brought him to Taranis Engineering in his current role, heading up our service department.
Clive has years of growth within the industry as an Apprentice Controls Engineer, Building Services Field Engineer, working Supervisor and Contract Management. Each experience has led him to his position now as Taranis Engineering's Service Manager,
This role calls on his wealth of knowledge and in the field background experiences first hand which allows him to deliver total FM services to the environmental agency, public health sector and aviation authority. This reflects in his understanding of customer requirements from critical breakdowns to legislative compliance which supports his passion to deliver service plans to the client through a multitude of CAFM systems whatever sector or size.
Service Manager
Heading up the day to day co-ordination of our service engineers, Jason is developing in his current role with Taranis Engineering with exceptional speed, thanks to his previous experience of years as a logistics manager with other firms. Through this, Jason has been able to maximise the efficiency of our service response times and management of our engineers; his drive to deliver customer service at a top-tier rate makes him an invaluable member of the team. His role helps to strategically manage and support our on-site engineers in order to satisfy all customers, from smaller domestic installations to larger laboratories and medical centres, ensuring that all systems are repaired as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Service Co-ordinator
Dean has developed a range of knowledge that helps in his supervising of the day to day tasks of the service department, thanks to the 7 years of experience in the construction industry and 11 years of experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, where he has been able to hone his skills. After completing his apprenticeship, Dean was able to work with some extremely knowledgeable engineers during this time working on main stream chillers and large size VRVs within a range of environments, including hospitals, airports, and retail /commercial offices. His strengths are focused around diagnostics and repair, and he is happy to be able to pass the valuable knowledge he has gained in his 11 years to date to his co-workers as a supervisor of the service department.
